“Am a student and Princeton and went to Tiger Garage to do my NJ state inspection since it's the closest option in the area. Good service and done if I dropped my car off for the day, costs $75. However it's impossible to get in contact with them—online website appointment scheduling doesn't work, they didn't pick up a call or ever respond to a voicemail I left. Didn't know any details about the fees or services from online. They also didn't even call to say they had finished servicing my car, I just went before closing. Had to walk in to schedule appointment which was easily available the following day. If they simply improved on communication they'd get five stars.”

“These guys are great. Very trustworthy and reasonably priced. They can diagnose any problem accurately and are always timely with their work. Plus, the location is great if you are a student and need to be within walking distance of campus.”

“Very speedy, honest, and cost-effective work. Not like other places that try to trick you into spending more on unnecessary and expensive service.”

Audi Service at Tiger Garage

Audis are well-built cars, but they have their own quirks and they need a mechanic who takes the diagnostic work seriously before recommending repairs. At Tiger Garage on Witherspoon Street in Princeton, we work on the A4, Q5, A6, and Q7, handling everything from oil changes and brake service to check engine light diagnosis, suspension work, and electrical faults. We find out what's actually wrong first. You don't pay for parts your car doesn't need.

Princeton University students and local residents have been bringing their Audis to us for years. The location helps, we're an easy walk from campus, but people keep coming back because we're straight with them. As one customer put it: "Very speedy, honest, and cost-effective work. Not like other places that try to trick you into spending more on unnecessary and expensive service." That's the way we've always worked. You get the diagnosis, the price, and an explanation of what happens if you wait, then you decide. Nothing starts until you say go.

Common Audi Issues We See

Audi's 2.0T four-cylinder, found in most A4 and Q5 models, is a capable engine but it has a few known weak spots. Oil consumption is a common complaint on higher-mileage examples, often traced to worn piston rings or a failing PCV system. Carbon buildup on the intake valves is another issue on direct-injection engines, including the TFSI motors in many Audis, since fuel doesn't wash the valves the way port injection does. We'll tell you honestly whether you're at a point where cleaning makes sense or whether something else is driving the problem.

Timing chain tensioners are worth keeping an eye on, particularly on older 2.0T engines. A rattling noise on cold startup is usually the first sign. Catching it early is significantly less expensive than waiting until the chain skips or snaps. We also see cooling system wear, water pump failures, and thermostat housing issues on higher-mileage Q5 and A6 models. These aren't unique to Audi, but they're common enough that it's worth a look during any routine service visit.
