“Wonderful!!! My 10-yr-old Mazda abruptly started making a loud grinding noise on a long wintry drive last week. I have always gone to the Mazda dealership near where I used to live, but here, the closest one was a 25-min drive away and had no openings for more than 2 weeks. Tiger Garage is a 5-min walk for me, and a friend had highly recommended them a few months ago. I initially ruled them out, since they didn't mention Mazda on the long list of cars they can fix, plus I figured there couldn't possibly be any good options in this neighborhood. But after several frustrating phonecalls to other places, I decided it was worth a shot. I was able to describe the problem and request an appointment time online (a huge perk, I hate the phone), and got a confirmation email the next day. Took my car in this morning, and had a good feeling, I think it's a father-son business and they seemed very nice. They called about half an hour later with a diagnosis and estimate, and had the car all fixed up for exactly the quoted price a couple hours later!! Very reasonable too. It was brake failure, which I last dealt with 25 years ago, and I paid considerably less today than I did to my dealership decades ago for the same repair! Thank you :)”

“Had my check engine light on and needed an inspection for a 20 year old car. I was expecting a part or two needing replacement, which was exactly the case. The service here was great, providing details and explanations for every fee charged and they made sure I was ok with proceeding at each step. Best part was they got it all done in one day.”

“Rick is the guy could be trusted. My first car engine failed and was estimated to cost $3200 to fix here, while it was estimated to cost me $5000 to replace the engine in PepBoys.”

Make Overview

Toyota Service at Tiger Garage

Toyota builds some of the most reliable vehicles on the road, but reliable doesn't mean maintenance-free. Staying ahead of oil changes, brake wear, and the occasional check engine light is what keeps a Camry or RAV4 running well past 150,000 miles. At Tiger Garage on Witherspoon Street in Princeton, we service the full Toyota lineup. Camry, RAV4, Tacoma, Tundra, and everything else they make. We handle oil changes, brake jobs, cooling system service, wheel alignments, battery and electrical work, and engine diagnostics. Whatever your Toyota needs, we'll tell you exactly what we found and what it costs before we start.

One customer brought in a 20-year-old car with a check engine light and needed an inspection. She expected a part or two, and that's exactly what it was. We explained every fee, confirmed with her before each step, and had it done the same day. That's how we work on every car, whether it's a well-used Tacoma or a high-mileage Camry that's been solid for years. One reviewer noted that Rick saved them nearly $1,800 on an engine repair compared to what another shop had quoted. We hear that kind of thing a lot from Toyota owners who assumed a bigger price tag was unavoidable.

Common Toyota Issues We See

Toyotas are genuinely well-built, so when problems do show up, they're usually straightforward. Older Camrys and RAV4s can develop oil consumption issues, particularly on the 2.5L four-cylinder engines from certain model years. If you're topping off oil between changes, it's worth having it looked at before it causes bigger problems. Oxygen sensor and catalytic converter codes are common on higher-mileage Toyotas and tend to trigger check engine lights around 100,000 miles or after. We pull the codes, find the actual cause, and don't just throw parts at it. Tacoma and Tundra owners sometimes deal with rear brake corrosion from New Jersey winters, and brake lines on older trucks can rust through if they're not caught early. We check all of that during a brake inspection and tell you what we find.
