Common BMW Issues We Fix
BMW cooling systems are a known weak point. Water pumps, expansion tanks, and thermostat housings are often made from plastic and tend to crack somewhere between 60,000 and 100,000 miles. We recommend getting ahead of these before they leave you stranded with an overheating engine. A failed water pump on a 3 Series that ran hot for twenty miles costs considerably more to sort out than one caught during a routine inspection.
Oil leaks are the other thing we see regularly on BMWs. Valve cover gaskets, oil filter housing gaskets, and oil pan gaskets are the usual suspects on most BMW four-cylinder and inline-six engines. Electrical faults are also common on these vehicles, and we use proper diagnostic tools to trace the problem to its source rather than replacing parts based on a guess.
